Shakespeare Day workshop

On Thursday 27th September 2018 pupils at Lynn Grove Academy had the fantastic opportunity to work with Katie Lewis, who is an associate director of the Royal Shakespeare Company. Kate specialises in voice and movement workshops when working with a Shakespearean text. Lynn Grovers enjoyed a whole day off timetable exploring key concepts preparing for this year’s production of Julius Caesar. They focused on vocal intonation and pitch and how to develop physical skills including body language and gesture in key moments of the play. Everyone agreed it was a truly enriching day and they now feel more able and confident to tackle one of Shakespeare’s more difficult historical texts. Home performances of Julius Caesar will take place on Monday 3rd December 2018 with a final performance at Abbeyfield on Tuesday 4th or Wednesday 5th December dates still to be confirmed.

Don’t Go Down

We were very excited when we heard that Violet and Stuart in Year 9 had won the Creative Education Trust Creative Writing prize as a result of their excellent performance in the London final of the competition. Their prize was to see their script filmed by a professional team here a Lynn Grove. Their friends agreed to take a starring role and you can watch the film here or on the Trust’s YouTube channel.
