School Ethos

Our LGA ethos: the story

Focus staff and pupil groups at Lynn Grove worked together over a number of months to create our school ethos statement. We spent a long time refining exactly what we wanted to say; the values we wanted to promote and stand behind every day. You will notice, for example, the repeated word ‘we’ as pupils felt that represented every member of our extended community. We intentionally used the word ‘heart’ to describe learning, as we wanted to capture the passion behind this journey. You will see also that we put ‘each other’ before ‘ourselves’ when we referred to kindness.

Our ethos permeates everything we do, from staff induction to our amazing college system. We talk about our ethos in small ways, like our weekly ethos videos which are played to pupils on Monday mornings, or in bigger ways like our termly rewards events. We are proud to have worked with Norwich University of the Arts, along with our incredible year 10 artists, to create our ethos posters, which you will see displayed around our school building. Here are the 5 statements of our school ethos:

We are Lynn Grove, we are a community
We are Lynn Grove, we are a community.
We are kind to each other, and ourselves.
We are kind to each other, and ourselves.
We put learning at the heart.
We put learning at the heart.
We challenge ourselves.
We challenge ourselves.
We persevere.
We persevere.
